Frequently asked questions

The questions institutions ask us most about virtual medical simulation and Davak Medical VR.

What is Davak Medical VR?
Davak Medical VR is virtual reality medical simulation software for health education. Students practise radiography, nursing, anatomy and medicine and surgery on virtual patients, and instructors set quizzes and tasks and review results on a web platform.
Who is it for?
Universities, colleges of health technology, schools of nursing and teaching hospitals. Individual students can also subscribe on their own.
Where is Davak Medical VR made?
It is developed in Nigeria by Davak Consult, for institutions across sub-Saharan Africa.
What equipment do we need?
Standalone VR headsets (Meta Quest 3, Pico 4 Enterprise and Vive XR headsets) for the immersive simulations. A PC version is available for practice without a headset.
Does it work without internet?
Yes. Standalone headsets and desktop practice modes work without a constant connection. Internet is used to sync results, quizzes and tasks.
How is it licensed?
An institution buys a licence with a number of student seats on a plan, for one year. Every educator at a licensed institution receives a complimentary licence.
Can instructors track student performance?
Yes. Every simulation session, quiz attempt and task submission is recorded, and instructors see them on a dashboard.
How do we arrange a demonstration?
Use the Book a Demo form on the website, call +234 816 137 6846 or email hello@davakconsult.com.

Virtual medical simulation

What is virtual medical simulation software?
It is software that recreates clinical procedures and patients in a three-dimensional environment, so students can practise repeatedly and safely before working with real patients. Davak Medical VR covers radiography, nursing, anatomy and medicine and surgery.
Does it need an internet connection?
Standalone VR headsets run the simulations without cables or a connected PC, and desktop modes allow practice without internet. A connection is used to sync results, quizzes and tasks with the web platform.
Which headsets does Davak Medical VR support?
The simulations are optimised for Meta Quest 3, Pico 4 Enterprise and Vive XR headsets. A PC version is available for institutions and students without headsets.

Radiography

Can students practise X-ray positioning without radiation?
Yes. Davak Medical VR simulates the X-ray room, patient, tube and detector, so students practise positioning and exposure selection with no radiation at all.
How many radiographic projections are included?
More than 130 specialised projections covering all 206 bones of the human skeleton, across 60+ simulated X-ray rooms.
Can instructors see what settings a student used?
Yes. Each captured image is saved with the exposure factors and equipment settings the student chose, and instructors can review and grade submissions from the web platform.

Nursing

What nursing scenarios are available?
Scenario-based training for high-stakes events including epileptic seizures, respiratory distress and COVID-19 triage, aligned with National Nursing Standards.
Can a whole class use it at once?
Yes. Sessions can be multi-user with live instructor guidance, and each student can also practise independently on a headset or the PC version.

Human anatomy

How many anatomical structures does the VR atlas include?
More than 13,000 structures across every body system, plus over 500 body movements.
Can VR anatomy replace a cadaver lab?
It gives every student unlimited, repeatable dissection where cadavers are scarce or unaffordable. Many institutions use it alongside whatever cadaver access they have.

Medicine and surgery

What is Digital Twin technology in surgical simulation?
It converts a patient's DICOM imaging into a three-dimensional model, so a procedure can be planned and rehearsed in virtual reality beforehand.

Nigeria

Is there a medical simulation software company in Nigeria?
Yes. Davak Medical VR is virtual medical simulation software developed in Nigeria by Davak Consult, covering radiography, nursing, anatomy and medicine and surgery.
How is Davak Medical VR priced for Nigerian institutions?
Institutions buy a licence with a number of student seats on a plan, priced in naira. Educators at a licensed institution are covered at no extra cost.
How can a Nigerian university get a demonstration?
Book a demo on the website, call +234 816 137 6846 or email hello@davakconsult.com.

Sub-Saharan Africa

Which company provides virtual medical simulation in sub-Saharan Africa?
Davak Medical VR, developed by Davak Consult in Nigeria, provides virtual reality medical simulation for institutions across sub-Saharan Africa.
Will it work where internet is unreliable?
Yes. Standalone headsets and desktop practice modes work without a constant connection; results sync when a connection is available.

Made in Africa

Who develops Davak Medical VR?
Davak Consult, an African company of clinicians and technology experts, designs, builds and supports Davak Medical VR.
Can the simulations be customised for our curriculum?
Yes. Because the software is developed locally, content can be adapted to an institution's curriculum and standards.
